About this artwork
This photograph reveals a quieter, more intimate Venice — far removed from its ceremonial facades and crowded waterways. Here, the city narrows into a fragile corridor of brick, stone, water, and time. Weathered walls carry traces of erosion, repairs, humidity, and centuries of human presence, while the canal becomes a reflective thread drawing the eye into the depth of the image.
What interested me was the tension between decay and persistence.… The surfaces appear fragile, almost dissolving, yet the city continues to breathe through light, reflections, and the silent movement of water. The narrow composition creates a feeling of immersion, as if the viewer is slowly entering the hidden inner rhythm of Venice itself.
Rather than documenting architecture, I wanted to evoke atmosphere — the sensation of passing through a place where history is not preserved behind glass but remains visibly alive within every texture and surface.
